As the actor passes, water erupts and brings the setting to life. Fully digital reactions, integrated with the movement and lighting of the shots.
The context
This commercial for a major energy drink brand makes water respond to the actor’s movement. Each pass triggers a sudden reaction in the surrounding scene. The project is currently in production.
The challenge
Agree on concepts quickly with the director, then give digital water the weight and speed of real water. Integration into moving shots requires precise control over every reaction.
The creative approach
Filmed references of impacts and splashes guide the behaviour of the water. The main body, spray and droplets are simulated separately: this layered approach lets us adjust each element in compositing to match the lighting and movement of the shot.
